David is a boy who was born with a butterfly wing instead of a right hand. His parents take him to doctors and specialists, but seeing that he is happy with his butterfly wing, they decide to leave him alone. Although he can't clap and climb like other children, David is very happy with his butterfly wing. He dreams of flying, has many friends, is loved and trusts people. The most powerful scene in the book is the one where an older boy laughs at him in the park. But David manages to turn the tense situation into a lesson in acceptance and the threatening character into a friend.
